Congratulations to Warwick Valley High School seniors Holly Purta and Bailie Frey, who both received the Senior Project Excellence Award for their 2025 projects.

Holly worked with her senior project mentor, WVHS guidance counselor Colleen Amideneau, to examine the efficacy of exercise on reducing anxiety in high school students. Along with her requisite paper, portfolio and presentation, Holly's project was to arrange a 5K walk/run to raise mental health awareness, as well as funds for Warwick Cares, to support its community-focused mental health initiatives, trainings and outreach.

Bailie worked with mentors RJ Martucci and Erin Frey on her project, which was organizing a charity golf outing to benefit the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation, and their work in support of Gold Star families and veterans across the country. Her paper, portfolio and presentation looked at the necessity of non-profits in today’s society as a means to improve the overall well-being of their beneficiaries.

On Monday, back in the high school atrium, Holly and Bailie presented their donations to representatives from their respective organizations. They were joined by Ms. Fogler and Mr. DiLeo.
