Wildcats Spring Sports Update (April 13)

Boys Tennis

Warwick defeated Cornwall 6-1 at home on April 10. Denis McAteer, Victor Januario and Matthew Budnar won their singles matches for the Wildcats, who improved their record to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in OCIAA Division II.

Warwick travels to Beacon for another match this afternoon.


Girls Lacrosse

Kelsey Larney scored seven goals to lead Warwick to a 20-6 victory over Niskayuna on April 11. The undefeated Wildcats outscored Niskayuna 14-0 in the second half to run their record to 4-0.

Ava Fanos had four goals and three assists in the game. Alexa Hayes also scored four goals. Laci Annuziato made three saves.

Warwick overpowered Goshen 17-2 on April 7, with Larney again leading the way with six goals. Sofia Mazza, Fanos, Cameron Knox, Keira Ginley and Hayes each added two goals.

The Wildcats have outscored their opponents 74-13 so far this season.

Boys Lacrosse

Cormac Mezzetti, Henry Wright, Matt Tully and Jason Senior each had two goals in Warwick's 9-3 victory over Minisink Valley on April 10. Matt Finnerty also scored, and Christian Perron made 11 saves. 

The Wildcats defeated Monroe-Woodbury 8-4 on April 8 as Finnerty, Wright and Mezzetti each scored twice. Senior and Tully provided the other Warwick goals. Perron made 10 saves. Warwick is 3-1 on the season, with the only loss coming against Ridgefield, one of the top teams in Connecticut.

Softball

Lorenza Brennie had two hits in a 6-1 loss at Goshen on April 10. Goshen scored five runs in the fifth inning. The Wildcats lost to Minisink Valley 11-0 on April 8. Warwick defeated Washingtonville 9-2 on April 6. Winning pitcher Abi Walsh struck out 10 batters.

Warwick, 2-3 overall, will try to even its record at 4:30 p.m. today in a home game against Cornwall.


Boys track and field

Isaiah Gonzalez finished first in three events to pace Warwick to an 82-59 victory over Pine Bush on April 7. Gonzalez was first in the 400-meter run, the long jump and the triple jump. Leo Shostal won the 1,600 and 3,200.
 


Girls Track and field

Ciarra Currid won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in a meet against Pine Bush on April 7. Brooke Kelly was first in the shot put and discus. Pine  Bush won the meet 73-67.


Baseball

Declan O'Donnell had two hits for Warwick in a 10-4 loss to Beacon on April 10. Monroe-Woodbury defeated Warwick 14-3 on April 8. 


Flag football

Warwick played two close games last week, falling 13-6 to Washingtonville on April 10 and defeating Valley Central 7-6 on April 7.


Girls golf

Alexa Milazzo shot a 46 at Warwick Valley Country Club to lead the Wildcats to victories over Sullivan West and Newburgh Free Academy on April 9. Milazzo shot a 45 at the Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Warwick's season-opening 162-177 victory over Washingtonville on April 7.


Boys golf

Will Roome fired a 2-over-par 38 to power Warwick past Liberty 205-315 at Warwick Valley Country Club on April 10. Shaun Kunish shot a 40 for the Wildcats.

Warwick dropped a 219-220 match against Pine Bush at Wallkill Golf Club on April 8. Kunish led the way with a 39.
